Conducting a lecture-training on art therapy

21 Oct 2025

On October 21, 2025, the eighth event from the cycle of lectures and trainings on the prevention of emotional burnout, organized by the department of general scientific, social and behavioral disciplines, took place at the Odesa Institute of Medical Education.
The theme of this year's meeting is "Psychology in art, art in psychology. Part 8: gentle art therapy.
Speakers of the event were: Alla Nerubasska - head of the department of general scientific, social and behavioral disciplines, doctor of philosophy, associate professor; Olena Balbuza is the head of the Odesa Regional Resource Center for Support of Inclusive Education, KZVO "OANO", art therapist, PhD/MCA in the field of psychology, teacher of the department.
During the event, participants explored the psychological mechanisms of art therapy, its main directions and practical significance for restoring internal balance and preventing professional burnout.
In the first part of the training lecture, Olena Balbuza conducted a series of interactive exercises using the author's associative metaphorical cards and spontaneous drawing techniques, which helped the participants to express their own emotions and find internal resources through colors and images.
In the second part, Alla Nerubasska, together with the audience, immersed herself in the world of art: they discussed artistic trends, analyzed the paintings of famous artists, and explored how art conveys human emotions and psychological states.
The practical result of the event was the participants' creation of their own neurographic roses — symbols of love, beauty and harmony. This creative process made it possible to verify in practice that art therapy is a gentle way to self-discovery, internal restoration and harmonization of the emotional state.
The organizers emphasized that the series of events "Psychology in art, art in psychology" traditionally unites students and teachers, creating space for professional growth, creativity and personal development.
Certificates for 0.2 ECTS credits will be issued to the participants of the training lecture.
The next event in the cycle is scheduled for March 2026.
