Selection procedure from the catalog of optional subjects

In accordance with Chapter X of Article 62 of the Law of Ukraine "On Higher Education" (No. 1556-VII dated 01.07.2014), Elective disciplines are disciplines of free choice of students for a certain level of higher education, aimed at ensuring general and special (professional) competencies for specialty The volume of optional academic disciplines is at least 25% of the total number of ECTS credits provided for this level of education.

In accordance with the Regulation on the procedure for the exercise of the right to free choice of academic disciplines by students of the Odesa Institute of Higher Education PJSC VNZ MAUP, students of higher education exercise their right to choose academic disciplines (packages, blocks), as a rule, during the spring semester (February-April). which precedes the academic year in which their study is provided. The single schedule for the Institute is approved by the order of the Director of the Institute.

For first-year students, the choice of academic disciplines can be made starting from the first semester.
The catalog contains an annotated list of disciplines (selective academic disciplines) — these are disciplines that are introduced by a higher educational institution, as well as departments of the institute in order to meet the educational needs of students to ensure the formation of soft skills and professional development.
Depending on your educational program, you can choose elective subjects both from your own and from another program in the amount specified in the curriculum for the variable component of a specific semester (year).Selection and subsequent enrollment in specialized groups for studying disciplines from the Catalog by applicants consists of the following stages:

The first stage is to acquaint applicants with the order, terms and features of registration and formation of groups to study freely chosen academic disciplines at the Academy, as well as with the specifics of assigning professional qualifications according to the educational program in which the applicant is studying (responsible curators of groups, deans). The activities of the first stage are organized during the first three months of study in the spring semester.

The second stage is to acquaint students with the lists of disciplines and blocks (packages) of choice, which are offered both by the program they are studying and by other programs. Acquaintance takes place by organizing meetings with representatives of departments and project working groups of educational programs, representatives of deanships, tutors, etc. Acquaintance of students with lists of disciplines and blocks (packages) of choice can begin from the first days of study in educational programs.

The third stage - registration of students to study academic disciplines (packages, blocks, etc.) is carried out according to the approved schedule at the Institute with a clearly defined deadline, but the duration of the stage cannot exceed two weeks. A sample application is provided in Appendix 1 of the Regulation.

The fourth stage is the processing of student applications by the faculty/project groups of educational programs, verification of the student contingent and preliminary formation of groups for specializations (profiles), as well as mobile groups for studying selective disciplines. It is carried out by responsible employees of educational process support groups (employees of the dean's office/directorate). According to the results of the stage, students whose choice cannot be satisfied for the reasons listed in clause 2.3 are notified of the refusal (with the reason) and are offered to make a choice from the adjusted (see clause 2.4) list. The duration of the stage does not exceed 5 working days.

The fifth stage is re-enrollment of students to study academic disciplines (packages, blocks, etc.). It is carried out according to the rules specified in subsection 3.2.6. The duration is one week.
The sixth stage is the final processing of student applications by faculties/project groups of educational programs, decision-making regarding students who did not exercise the right of free choice (paragraph 2.7), verification of the student contingent and the formation of groups for specializations (profiles), as well as mobile groups for the study of optional disciplines . It is carried out by the responsible employees of the educational process support groups (employees of the dean's office) after checking and approval, in which the disciplines chosen by students are included in their individual plans, and the lists of specialization groups (profiles) and mobile groups are submitted for approval, in accordance with the delegated powers, to the dean of the faculty/deputy director/director of the institute. The duration of the stage is no more than a week. Copies of approved lists of specialization groups (profiles) and mobile groups are submitted to the dean's office.
