Odessa Institute of OAO MAUP prepares specialists of the field 08 Law of specialty 081 Law of the first (bachelor's) and second (master's) level of higher education. The Faculty of Law is a department of legal disciplines. The department has existed since 2002, it consists of 15 scientific and pedagogical staff, 9 of them are full-time teachers, 1 of them is a doctor of sciences and 9 candidates of sciences (5 full-time).
The Department of Legal Disciplines became the successor to the Department of Law, established in 2002. For 18 years the heads of the department were Ph.D. M. Yelchaninov, S. Babiy, I. Dryshlyuk, V. Tsarenko, since 2017 – V. Pehov. All employees of the department have experience of practical work in the field of law, are engaged in scientific activity.
The Department of Legal Disciplines conducts systematic scientific work, teachers participate in scientific conferences and round tables, have a research topic, publish research results, including in professional publications, manage student research work. In 2018-2020 members of the department Karakasidi OF, Yevchuk TV, Bakhtina YS defended their dissertations, Perov AP and Perova LV are preparing to defend their dissertations in 2020.
The general departmental theme of research work (R&D) has been approved, teachers and gifted students have their own research topic. The teaching staff has the following personal research topics: Professor of the Department of Caracasidi OF - "State power and local government: ways and means of modernizing the relationship in the interests of man and society"; Associate Professor TP Yevchuk - "Administrative and legal regulation of the prosecutor's office oversight of the National Police of Ukraine"; teacher Perov AP - "Administrative and legal principles of professional training of civil servants of Ukraine"; Head of the Department VM Pyokhov - "Corruption in Ukraine and ways to prevent it" and "Global environmental problems"; Associate Professor Bogan SM - "Anti-Communist Insurgent Movement in Southwest Ukraine in 1920-1923"; associate professor of the department Zolotareva OA - "The content of the constitutional principle of separation of church and state", "Typical violations of labor rights of employees in commercial structures", "Anti-corruption activities"; Professor of the Department Dombrovsky OI - "Evolution of legislation during the revival of Ukrainian statehood" and others. The main research materials are implemented by teachers in the reference notes of lectures on disciplines of the department.
For 2021-2025, the theme of the department research "A new stage of legal reform in Ukraine" was approved 10.01.02 General problems of state and law.
The department has provided educational and methodical complexes in all disciplines, practice programs, methodical recommendations for writing master's theses, methodical recommendations for writing term papers and other written works. Educational and methodical materials (working curricula, methodical recommendations, etc.) from the disciplines of the Educational Program "Law" of the first and second level of higher education are stored at the department, provided to students and posted on the website of the Institute.
The department trains bachelors and masters of law. The term of study for a bachelor's degree is 4 years. Undergraduates study for 1 year 6 months on the basis of bachelor's, master's and specialist's degree in related fields of knowledge / specialties.

Practical training of higher education seekers is carried out by their internship at enterprises, institutions and organizations in accordance with the concluded agreements. Managers of enterprises, institutions and organizations - bases of practice are obliged to ensure the creation of appropriate conditions for practical training at the enterprise, compliance with the rules and regulations of labor protection, safety and industrial sanitation in accordance with the law.

Students can also have an internship at the Institute by order of the director - at the Department of Legal Disciplines and at the Legal Clinic named after Ataman Anton Holovaty Odessa Institute of PJSC IAPM. In addition, there is an agreement with the State Geocadastre, the Primorye branch of the Probation Center, lawyers Perov AP and Vrona AV, district administrations of the Odessa City Council on the possibility of practice and internships for students to exchange letters between the Institute and the practice base.
The department provides student-centered training that assists graduates after graduation. Our graduates work in various fields of activity: graduates-specialists of the previous period Inna Shitra works in the regional state administration, Elena Panova – in a law firm, Irina Yushchenko – in the legal service of the Southern seaport, Ilona Stepanenko – in the regional department of the State executive service; after her undergraduate practice, Tatiana Tarak and Svetlana Negru'l got a job at the Main Department of State Geocadastre in Odessa region; Andriy Fomenko – in Bilyaevsky district court, Mykola Velichko – in Illichivsk local prosecutor's office. The graduates of 2019 Lilia Ababina settled in the Ovidiopol District Court of Odessa region, and Yulia Lvova – in the Suvorovsky District Court of Odessa. MAUP graduate Alexander Bezlushchenko works as a lawyer in the anti-corruption department of the Odessa Maritime Guard Detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. Graduates work as attorneys and legal assistants, and are arbitration directors and heads of HR departments. Some masters students in extramural studies are trained from a lawyer Vrona А. V.
